Lalbaugcha Raja is famous for yearly celebrations during Ganesh Festival (The Elephant Headed Lord Ganesha)

It is in Lalbaug, one can say, that the moments which herald the beginning of the 10-day Ganesh festival gets going every year as it did, on Sunday evening.
An eager crowd gathered to welcome the deity greeted aloud with "Ganpati bappa morya,” as curtain was lifted off the Ganpati idol.

Celebrating its 75th year, Lalbaug Ganpati this time has been seated in more opulence than previous years. This year, for the first time, it's insured. "We have insured the murti, the pandal and the devotees,'' said Sunil Joshi, president, Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal.
