Salman Khan has desire to own an IPL cricket team in the 2010 season. Salman met IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi in Mumbai on Wednesday and expressed his desire to be the owner of an IPL team.

IPL vice-president Niranjan Shah told IANS that Salman is a serious buyer and will bid for one of the two new teams.

If Salman buys an IPL team, than he has to take on Shahrukh Khan on the field, who is currently owing Kolkata Knight Riders. Bollywood celebrities like Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty and Juhi Chawla also co-owns various teams. Other actors rumoured to be showing interest in bidding for the IPL teams include Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan.

But brother Sohail Khan denied the news. Brother Sohail said, "It's not true. Salman is not buying any IPL team. On Thursday, when he was shooting for Dus Ka Dum I called up him and asked him whether it was true and he denied it."
