Vijender assures India of another Olympic medal
Boxer Vijender Kumar assured India of a medal after beating Ecuador's Carlos Gongora in the middleweight (75kg) category to move into the semifinals of the event at the Olympics here on Wednesday.
India's Vijender Kumar beat Carlos Gongora of Ecuador 9-4 in the quarter-finals of the 75kg middleweight category of the boxing event on Wednesday to guarantee India another medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Vijender Kumar (born October 29, 1985) is an Indian boxer. He represents India at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Vijender had a great start at the 2008 Summer Olympics defeating Badou Jack of Gambia 13-2 in the round of 32. In the round of 16, he defeated Angkhan Chomphuphuang of Thailand 13-3 to reach the Middleweight Boxing Quarterfinals. He beat Carlos Góngora of Ecuador 9-4 in the quarterfinals on August 20, 2008 which guarantees him a bronze medal.
