Who is IIT JEE 2008 topper?

Posted In: , . By Bhagwat

According to reports, Shitikant Bihari may well be the proud holder of this title. Shitikant, 17 from Bihar expects a score of about 440 marks in JEE.
"I had expected to be amongst the top 5 and since the scores are not out yet -- I am hoping to get a score of 440," told Shitikanth .

The sons of doctor parents, Shitikant says he will opt for IIT-Kanpur to pursue a degree in computer science. "I have always been interested in it and feel not only is a good field but will also give me great scope for research."

Having scored 91.4 per cent in his Class XII examination this year, Shitikanth says he followed a very flexible study schedule. After Class X, he moved to Kota in Rajasthan, at a popular centre of coaching for competitive examinations, where he attended up to three-and-half hours of coaching and studied up to 6 to 7 hours on his own every day.

He recieved congratulation messages from the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for his impressive performance.

His tip for aspirants:
"Focus. Give every subject equal importance. Keep a basic but flexible schedule where you say that I will finish so much in so much time."
thanks to IIT-dreams

And all India second rank holder — Nishant Totla of Aurangabad.

According to Totla, a product of Bansal Classes at Kota in Rajasthan, it was his coaching institute that helped him the most. “The competitive atmosphere there (Kota) helps you boost your performance.”

A 2-Step Journey

by Sri Anandagiriji

Enlightenment – Oneness is a 2-step journey, and each step consists of many steps, each leading to the other. In this 2-step journey, when you have reached the first step, you may say that you are in a Oneness State. But a more complete Oneness State would be to arrive at the second and then of course your can go beyond Enlightenment. While the majority of the human race may reach the first step, which itself is very satisfactory, it is very essential that the people who have undergone the 21 day process reach the second step in order to be a part of the 64,000 who would play a key role in the Enlightenment of mankind.

What is the first step? – When the speed of sensory co-ordination is reduced, the natural born “self” which also may be called ‘the natural self or the biological self’, ceases. The natural self that emerges because of the above said reason creates the sense of separateness or the ‘body-identity’ (me & my body), When you feel that you don’t exist (I am not there), or that your body is not your body, we may say that your ‘biological self’ has ended. This is Oneness - step 1.

Step 2 – the higher Enlightenment is when not only has the ‘biological self’ ceased, with it the ’psychological self’ must end. Only then, have you become the ‘Auspicious One’ what is the ‘psychological self? – The mind with its contents, comparisons, hurt, hate, becoming, mental blocks, traumas, manias and phobias, earthly passions, obsessions, etc., is the ‘psychological self’.

When you have become dis-passionate (appeasement of obsessions), when your experience is free of mental influences, then we may say you are truly in a Oneness State. The end of craving is the end of the ‘psychological self’. The Oneness Blessing that was been given to you by Sri AmmaBhagavan in the 21 day process would eventually lead you to the higher state of Oneness.

The path to the higher state of Oneness (step 2) is not a very pleasant experience. You will be gripped by causeless fear (fear without any apparent reasons), causeless depression, loneliness and meaninglessness, even an urge to die. If you can muster enough courage and trust Sri AmmaBhagavan (The Divine Presence), and stay with this feeling, which might last a few days – a few weeks, you will become the ‘Auspicious One’ (God Realized). In order to arrive here, you cannot avoid this phase. This phase we call ‘The Dark Night Of The Soul’.

Multi-touch software builds on existing capabilities Microsoft has introduced in recent years including Surface, for interacting with large tabletop computer displays, TouchWall for mounted screens and Tablet PCs for touch-screen notebooks.

In a demonstration of touch-screen capabilities to be offered in Windows 7, Microsoft showed a new application called "Touchable Paint" that lets a user paint with their fingers, as well as software to organize photos or navigate maps by touch.

"It is not about complete replacement of the mouse," Julie Larson-Green, Microsoft's corporate vice president in charge of Windows Experience Program Management, said in a first-time demonstration of multi-touch features to run inside Windows

Why, Why, Why

Why, Why, Why

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds' when they know there is not enough money?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an 'S' in the word 'lisp'?

If people evolved from apes,
why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses
are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, 'It's all right?' Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, 'That really hurt, why don't you watch where you're going?'

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......

The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons are suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it 's you.

You thought the $100 "Open Laptop Per Child" program was meant for providing low-cost computers to kids in developing nations but these images of XO version 2.0 may change that perception.

This fully-functional laptop tablet computer is the size of a book, sports a dual touch sensitive screen (no keyboard) and can also be folded like a book. The prototype uses the same 16:9 screen that are seen in DVD players.

The only problem - this desirable XOXO tablet computer won’t ship before 2010 and that’s a very long period.

Bruce Lee’s Top 7 Fundamentals for Getting Your Life in Shape

Bruce Lee’s Top 7 Fundamentals for Getting Your Life in ShapeIf you haven’t been living under a rock for the last 30 years I’m pretty sure you know who Bruce Lee was. :)

Here are 7 of my favourite fundamentals from Bruce Lee.

1. What are you really thinking about today?

“As you think, so shall you become.”

2. Simplify.

“It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”

3. Learn about yourself in interactions.

“To know oneself is to study oneself in action with another person.”

4. Do not divide.

“Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against.”

5. Avoid a dependency on validation from others.

“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.”

6. Be proactive.

“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”

7. Be you.

“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself,

"We Created Terror Among the Arabs"
Image

On April 9, 1948, members of the underground Jewish terrorist group, the Irgun, or IZL, led by Menachem Begin, who was to become the Israeli prime minister in 1977, entered the peaceful Arab village of Deir Yassin, massacred 250 men, women, children and the elderly, and stuffed many of the bodies down wells. There were also reports of rapes and mutilations.

Begin said at the time, "We created terror among the Arabs and all the villages around. In one blow, we changed the strategic situation."
Begin was the leader of the Irgun. That group regularly assassinated English soldiers in Palestine and frequently hung their booby-trapped bodies in public places
blew up the King David Hotel
killing 97 British civil servants
assassinated the U.N. representative to Palestine, Count Bernadotte
"The children were killed by breaking their heads with sticks
sealed in houses, as the village was systematically razed
hundreds of children died in the march, from dehydration

The high speed with which the web evolves leads to the appearance of a large amount of information regarding the principles of new-born development technologies or the improvements of older ones. Indexing that information becomes complex due to the fact that the information flux requires various processing operations, which implies the need of many types

of efficient resources and management strategies.

Google Doctype is an online open source encyclopedia for web programmers. Google explains the reason of this new web resource creation as follows: "because none of the existing resources fit our needs exactly. For example, many sites offer articles on web development, but few allow continuous improvement once the articles have been written. They are ‘set in stone,’ stamped with today's date, discussed briefly, and then forgotten. As the open web evolves, we would like to keep articles section of Google Doctype as up-to-date as possible, for as long as possible.

Shridhar Kamble
Shridhar Kamble
TIRAVADE/KOLHAPUR: An insolent society would not permit him and his ancestors basic human contact, keeping him in a ghetto outside his village in Kolhapur district for centuries. Fortunately, celestial wonders are devoid of such bias, allowing Dalit boy Shridhar Kamble to have his head in the stars, literally.

Impressed by 17-year-old Shridhar's theory of galaxy evolution, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has invited the farm labourer's son into their fold as a junior scientist.

Shridhar Kamble, a 17-year HSC student has submitted his theory of galaxy evolution which is not only appreaciated in his school but also admired by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). NASA has now invited Shridhar as Junior scientist in their organization.

NASA also awarded scholarship of $10,000. Shridhar has got admission in Colorado University to study Bachelor of Science in Astronomy. For the first two years, Shridhar has to pay for his education and NASA will bear his third year education cost. He had earlier won young scientist award from Bhabha Research Institute when he was in 8th standard.

Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has promised full financial aid to Shridhar Kamble (17), the Dalit boy from Tiravade village in Kolhapur district, about whom TOI wrote on Thursday ('Dalit boy touches the stars'). Shridhar, a budding astronomer, has been offered admission by Colorado University in the US, but being from a poor family does not have the funds to study.

As TOI reported, the prestigious National Aeronautics and Space Administration in the US, offered Shridhar a $10,000 scholarship after they were impressed by a research paper he wrote. Shridhar, whose father is a labourer and mother a nursery-school teachers, needs Rs 30 lakh more, which his parents are struggling to collect.

After reading the article on Thursday morning, Deshmukh told his principal secretary to write a letter to social justice minister Chandrakant Handore, directing him to contact Shridhar and give him the money he needs to pursue his dream. Deshmukh said that the Kamble family can rest assured that the state government will take care of the expenses.

Financial help for Shridhar is also pouring in from Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. "After the TOI report, I received calls from several industrial groups, including Bharti Airtel and Tilaknagar Industries Ltd, and also from the social welfare department of the state government," Shridhar told TOI on

Friday. Help is coming in from individuals as well, he added.

"With so many helping hands coming forward, I hope to fly to the US on July 15 and my heart is full of gratitude for all those who have come forward to help me," he said.

Cheers for Shridhar Kamble
